First Lady Gloria Stevenson
Jesus is the reason I’m here today! I praise God for all his blessing he has bestowed upon me! I was born the
7th child of a family of 17. I thought I had a hard time growing up because of strict parents and a heavy work
load. I dreamed of being “free” as a child to do what I want, when I wanted. I didn’t understand that God
wanted me to live a sin free life style and to serve Him only. I had always heard that your sins would be on
your parents until you are 12 years old. So when I turned 12, my friend Juanita and I decided to go to a revival
because we were afraid to go to hell. On the second night I accepted Jesus into my heart. I didn’t understand
everything, but I knew I felt a change in my heart
In 1973, I began dating my husband. We had been in school together all along, but never really talked. He
began telling me more about God. I knew that I loved God and wanted to live for Him.
One night at a revival in Helena, AR, the Lord filled me with the Holy Ghost. It felt like a bolt of lightning hit
me. I knew then that God was real and that I had a work to do for Him. My desires for this world began to fade
while my Love for the Lord grew.
In March of 1974, Marcus and I got married. About a year into our marriage we both gave our life totally to God
to do his will. He blessed us with 6 children.
God has taught us so much throughout the years. God also took pride out of my life thru many of my tests and
trials that I had to face. I didn’t get out into the world to get involved in drugs, alcohol, etc, but I thank God
that he kept me. I believe that the spirit of Pride is worst than any drug, but God delivered me and he humbled
my spirit to be a servant. I’m a sold out vessel for the Lord
In 1989, God called us to open a door in Jacksonville. I did not know that this would be one of the greatest
“trials of my faith”. But God has proved himself once again. I have learned to lean and depend upon Jesus
now more than ever. I have seen the miraculous hand of the Lord move for the ministry.
God has given me a great word to speak to the women of our church. I conduct women's service Sunday
mornings at 10a.m. at New Testament-Jacksonville.
